Film adapting Tadatoshi Fujimaki's sequel manga opens on March 18 in Japan
The official website for Gekijōban Kuroko no Basuke Last Game (Kuroko's Basketball The Movie: Last Game), the anime film adaptation of Tadatoshi Fujimaki's Kuroko no Basuke Extra Game sequel manga, began streaming the film's second trailer and a "character version" trailer on Saturday. Both trailers preview GRANRODEO's theme song "Glorious days."
The previously revealed new voice cast members for team Jabberwock include:
Hikaru Midorikawa as Nash Gold Jr., point guard for Jabberwock
Tetsu Inada as Jason Silver, center for Jabberwock
The film opens in Japan on March 18.
Fuijimaki is credited as chief supervisor on the film, and he is writing an "original episode" for the film. Shunsuke Tada is returning from the three television anime seasons to direct the film at Production I.G. Noboru Takagi is also returning to handle the series composition, Yoko Kikuchi is returning to design the characters, and Yoshihiro Ike is returning from seasons 2 and 3 to compose the music. The cast from the television anime series are also returning to reprise their roles in the film.
The film will be a sequel to the television anime series, taking place after Kuroko and Kagami become second-year students. An American street basketball team called Jabberwock comes to Japan and plays a friendly match with a Japanese team, but after the Japanese team suffers a crushing defeat, the team members of Jabberwock start mocking Japanese basketball. Their comments enrage Riko's father, and so he gathers a team made up of the five members of the Generation of Miracles plus Kuroko and Kagami, called Vorpal Swords, to have a revenge match against Jabberwock.
The Kuroko's Basketball franchise also recently received three compilation films. The films each screened for two weeks in September, October, and December, respectively. Crunchyroll is streaming the first compilation film, titled Kuroko's Basketball Winter Cup Highlights -Shadow and Light- (Kuroko no Basuke Winter Cup Sōshū-hen: Kage to Hikari).
